Transport Driver, Offsider

POSITION SUMMARY:

To provide a laundry pick up and delivery service that meets the needs of the Central Laundry Customers

THE ORGANISATION:

Wesley Mission Queensland is an agency of the Uniting Church in Australia celebrating 100 years of community service and aged care in 2007. Wesley Mission Queensland's facilities and programs extend across Brisbane suburbs and the South East Queensland region offering residential care, independent housing and community care in the home for aged people.  Community service programs include emergency relief, disability and employment programs, support for disengaged youth, youth-at-risk and young parents, family day care schemes and childcare centers. In addition, the National Auslan Booking Service provides interpreting services for the Deaf community across Australia. 

SALARY AND CONDITIONS:

This position operates under an Agreement between the Uniting Church Property Trust (Q) Blue Care, the Australian Workers Union of Employees, Qld and the Australian Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.         Load and unload truck to ensure timely deliveries to customers.

2.         Ensure all packing and delivery documentation is delivered with customer orders.

3.         Advise Laundry manager of customers queries and requests.

4.         Ensure the truck is operating correctly and carry out routine checks as required.

5.         Liaise with manager in relation to assigned tasks.

 
SELECTION CRITERIA:

1.         Demonstrated ability to safely and efficiently operate a commercial delivery truck, including a driver's manual license class C.

2.         Ability to deal with Customer queries and requests.

3.         Demonstrated ability to schedule pick up and deliveries.

4.         Demonstrated ability to work in a team with minimal supervision.

5.         Demonstrated sound written, numeracy, and interpersonal skills.

6.         Understanding and commitment to the principles and requirements of workplace health & safety, equal opportunity and continuous quality improvement.

7.         Willingness and ability to work within the Philosophies, Policies and Procedures of Wesley Mission Queensland.
