About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the team at the Balmoral Uniting Community Centre (BUCC) as the Activities and Administration Officer.
The Activities and Administration Officer position sits within the Community Care and Inclusion Directorate of Wesley Mission Queensland. BUCC provides centre-based and outreach programs for the community. These programs provide support to a diverse range of individuals including older people and people with a disability.
The Activities and Administration Officer provides social and recreational programs to members of the community that take into account the physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs of the individual/group. They are also responsible for supporting the daily operation of the centre including a range of general administration tasks.
Essential Requirements
This role requires you to have a Current Driver's Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
You must hold a Certificate IV in a social, community, recreation or health discipline or equivalent.
Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one within the three month probation period.
Desirable
It is desirable that you hold a Current Light Rigid (LR) Class Driver’s License or ability to obtain one within three month probation period.
Any other specialised qualifications in related areas, e.g. music, art and exercise.
Key Duties
Align one’s workplace behaviour in accordance with the WMQ Model of Care, the Wesley Charter and Wesley Mission Queensland’s Vision, Mission and Values.
Plan, implement, facilitate and evaluate a range of community-based group programs within the centre and the wider community to meet the holistic needs of people in the community.
Assist with the development of individual care plans and provide high quality supports in accordance with the individual’s care plan. In addition, document and report on client progress and reviews.
Build positive relationships and communicate appropriately with clients, their families and networks accessing the centre.
Provide personal support (prompting and assistance with meal preparation and/or personal care) as required to maintain the dignity of individuals participating in services.
Provide transport for clients utilising BUCC vehicles, including a 24 seater bus (WMQ will support the successful applicant to obtain the necessary bus licence if not already held).
Provide guidance, support and supervision to volunteers and students in regards to the facilitation of client participation.
Assist with community projects and events.
Assist in the daily operations of the centre, including general administration tasks e.g. responding to enquiries, maintaining client records, banking, petty cash, coding invoices, developing of newsletter.
Work as member of a dynamic team and actively participate in team meetings.
Comply with BUCC and WMQ organisational policies and procedures and promote continuous quality improvement processes.
Actively participate in performance reviews, training and all continuous improvement initiatives.
Undertake other duties consistent with the position where required and/or requested by Team Leader/Manager.
