Emergency Management Advisor (Relieving)

We seek the services of a qualified Fire Safety Advisor (FSA) for up to six months commencing 18 April 2021. As part of the Health and Safety Team, reporting to the Emergency and Security Advisor, you will advise Managers and staff on fire safety compliance, systems and training. You will undertake site visits, inspections and observe and report on evacuation exercises.
Operating out of our Chermside office, travel to sites in Brisbane and on Gold and Sunshine Coasts is required. A mileage allowance is available.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the Vision, Mission and Values of the organisation.
- Undertake legislated responsibilities under the Building Fire Safety Regulation, Work Health and Safety Regulation and Emergency Management Standards.
- Provide specialist advice and manage activities across WMQ emergency response protection disciplines.
- Work collaboratively with senior management, managers and staff to achieve implementation of effective systems and process.
- Undertake audits, inspections and assessment of WMQ workplaces to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Building & Construction Code and Australian Standards.
- Undertake review of WMQ evacuation plans and emergency procedure annually in line with Building Fire Safety Regulation requirements.
- Ensure a critique of emergency evacuations is undertaken annually at each WMQ workplace.
- Promote effective relationships, communication and information dissemination on emergency matters between WMQ and external agencies such as fire, police, and ambulance and security providers.
- Assist with emergency and fire services contract negations as required.
