Director - Public Theology Hub
Wesley Mission Queensland is an integral part of the Uniting Church in Australia and has been supporting people in need for more than 100 years. As part of the Uniting Church our purpose is to participate in the mission of God - towards reconciliation, transformation, justice and hope for all people. In furtherance to our purpose and mission, Wesley Mission Queensland is proud to announce the establishment of a Public Theology Hub located at Albert Street Uniting Church, the spiritual home of Wesley Mission Queensland, in the heart of the Brisbane CBD. The role:
The Director of the Public Theology Hub is a member of the Wesley House Staff Team and is responsible for developing and leading a Public Theology Hub based at Albert Street Uniting Church and Wesley House. The Director will develop strategies and programmes to engage the three theological publics of congregation, academy and society, in alignment with the strategic priorities of Wesley Mission Queensland and Albert Street Uniting Church.
The Director will provide theological education and discipleship resources for the local worshipping community at Albert Street Uniting, as well as being available to the wider ecumenical church. The Director will be an accomplished scholar and research active in the area of public theology. The Director will bring theological expertise and efficacy to the social justice advocacy and community engagement of Wesley Mission Queensland.
Who we are looking for:
- PhD in Christian Theology (or near completion).
- Experience in academic research and peer-reviewed publication.
- Proven leadership skills and experience in change management and innovation.
- A track record of creative engagement with the three theological publics: congregation, academy, society. This will include written work, as well as experience in public speaking, lecturing, and preaching.
- Proven capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment, including being accountable for the effective and timely delivery of agreed upon KPIs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to engage, negotiate, advocate, collaborate and undertake joint innovative problem solving.
- Demonstrated effective PC skills including MS Office and related applications packages.
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
- Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ policy.
