Hummingbird House, Queensland's only children's hospice, operates as a medically supported 'home away from home' for children affected by a life limiting condition, and their families. The stand-alone purpose-built facility offers 8 guest-in-care suites, 5 family accommodation units and a dedicated suite for after-death care. Underpinned by the notion of creating a 'warm embrace' for children and their families, the multidisciplinary team provides 24/7hr scheduled and emergency specialist care short break stays; pain and symptom management; care at the end of life; care after death; and psychosocial support programs for the whole family. With strong connections locally, nationally and internationally with specialist paediatric palliative care services, Hummingbird House is an integrated community-based service delivering flexible child and family centred care. This full-time position is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of a range of fundraising activities and strategies for Hummingbird House. This position oversees and works in consultation with a small team of fundraising professionals. This position, sitting on the Leadership Team of Hummingbird House, reports directly to the General Manager of Hummingbird House, and is one of the positions which acts for the General Manager as required. There is a strong collaborative relationship with the Marketing, Communication & Fundraising Director of Wesley Mission Queensland, and Hummingbird House Foundation.

Hummingbird House has been operating for almost 4 years now. This is a unique opportunity to enhance and augment the fundraising program. 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. The development of a fundraising plan that will see Hummingbird House remain free for families who need us. 
  2. Leading a committed team and help them achieve their fundraising targets. 
  3. Coordination of all fundraising events, campaigns and partnerships. 
  4. Working with the Fundraising team to coordinate all fundraising activities, including (but not limited to): major gifts, individual giving, community fundraising, and corporate partnerships, as well as responding to other funding opportunities.
  5. Working closely with the community to create a bequest program for Hummingbird House.

Essential Requirements Essential: Must have a current Drivers licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
Essential: Demonstrated knowledge, development, implementation and management of contemporary fundraising principles and strategies.
Essential: Demonstrated ability to generate significant funding through major donors, trusts, foundations, and community fundraising.
Essential: Recent leadership experience in fundraising events, including, but not limited to, galas, golf days, and community-led fundraisers.
Essential: Highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Essential: Superior time management and prioritisation skills with a demonstrated ability to manage concurrent projects.
Essential: Demonstrated experience liaising and negotiating successful outcomes with a range of internal and external stakeholders
Essential: Proven commitment to working within a continuous quality improvement team environment.
