Allied Health Assistant

Hummingbird House is Queensland's only children's hospice and provides specialist paediatric palliative care to families across the state. The service offers short break respite stays, family support services, creative therapies, care at the end of life, after death care, and ongoing bereavement support for families caring for children with life limiting conditions.
The Allied Health Assistant role at Hummingbird House will provide support with delivery of hydrotherapy services to children accepted to Hummingbird House. This role operates under the supervision of the physiotherapist, and may include
i) assisting the physiotherapist in delivering physiotherapy
ii) delivering hydrotherapy techniques as guided by the physiotherapist
iii) non-clinical tasks associated with the maintenance and function of the Hummingbird House pool
As a service for children with palliative care needs, successful applicants will show an awareness for principles of palliative care, and an ability to provide professional support for families using culturally appropriate and family centred approaches to care. Above all, applicants will possess a drive to allow children to be children regardless of their diagnosis.
This role would be well suited for an Allied Health student, or someone with experience working with children with disabilities.
