Activities Officer

The role of the Activities Officer is to provide quality programs for our clients 65 years old and over; and our clients under 65 years old. Those under 65's are clients with some form of mental health/ intellectual disability. This is currently a 3 month temporary position, to be reviewed with the aim of becoming permanent.
The programs are run Monday to Friday and we are blessed to have a group of excellent volunteers who are there to assist the successful applicant with these programs. Wesley Mission Morningside is a small office currently with 8 staff and we are very proud of the family like atmosphere under which we work.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with WMQ Model of Care, the Wesley Charter and Wesley Mission Queensland's Vision, Mission and Values.
- Within the Scope of qualifications, prepare and lead social and recreational group activities for clients.
- Identify and respond to client/group needs.
- Document/report client progress.
- Organise and supervise clients on outings as required, including bus driving where appropriate.
- Liaise with other staff members and volunteers regarding client care and progress.
- Ascertain necessary equipment in line with budgetary requirements and in conjunction with the Local Manager.
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and promote continuous quality improvement process.
- Comply with all BUCC and WMQ organisational policies and procedures.
- Participation in the performance development system and seek out opportunities for ongoing education and training.
- Work within the philosophy and values of Wesley Mission Queensland.
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably directed by the Local Manager
