Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator

Role Purpose and Position Summary:
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate a leisure & lifestyle program for every individual client. These programs may be group or individually oriented. They must provide psychosocial and/or physical stimulation to each resident's interests and level of ability, and focus on enhancing the lifestyle of each resident by considering their holistic, social, cultural, emotional and spiritual needs.
Key Role Accountabilities:
- Align one's workplace ethics in accordance with the WMQ Charter, Eden Philosophy, Values and Mission of the organisation.
- To enable clients to achieve and maintain their optimum degree of independence and quality of life.
- Work towards reducing isolation and loneliness and bring joy and fulfilment in what is important to the individual.
- Within the scope of qualifications and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, assess, plan, implement and review ongoing innovative lifestyle activities, to meet the specific needs of the clients.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Requirements:
Essential:
- Current Driver's Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
- Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ policy.
- Minimum Certificate IV Leisure and Lifestyle, Diploma or Degree in same
- Minimum of recent 2 years' experience in the role
- Specialist communication skills in order to build strong relationships with clients with varying needs/abilities.
- Demonstrated understanding of specialist needs, particularly dementia.
- Competency with computer skills, especially Microsoft Word.
- Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementation, facilitation and ongoing review of innovative and flexible recreational programs, preferably in the aged care or disability industry.
- High level of verbal and written communication skills to enable the completion of quality documentation and reports.
- Demonstrated ability to work as an effective leader of a small multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations and continuous quality improvement practices.
- Ability to work within the Philosophies, Policies and Procedures of Wesley Mission Queensland and the Uniting Church in Australia.
Desirable
- Other specialised qualifications in areas of dementia, music, art or other skills related to the work of Leisure and Lifestyle.
- Bus Licence.
- First Aid Certificate
