Lead Educator 

(Full Time)

An exciting opportunity is available at The Gap Child Care Centre for a full time Lead Educator (Group Leader). The Gap Child Care Centre caters for 48 children from six months to five years; and we offer a responsive learning environment guided by the Early Years Learning Framework as well as an Approved Kindergarten Program with a qualified Early Childhood Teacher. The Gap Child Care Centre provides a community environment that recognises and respects the individuality, ability and potential of each child.  We offer children innovative educational programs in a flexible, play-based natural environment where they can be themselves and learn about the world around them. 

 

We are looking for a dedicated and outstanding Lead Educator (Group Leader) to join our team on a Full time basis (76 hours a fortnight).  The position will be based in our 3 -4  year room.  The ideal candidate will be passionate about Early Childhood and will have a vision for children as capable and competent learners along with proven experience in Early Childhood services.  They will also have an understanding of contemporary Early Childhood practices.  The Lead Educator position will work under the guidance of the Centre Director to implement an enriched learning environment for children to help build their foundations for early years.

Selection Criteria (Applicants must hold):

  • An approved early childhood qualification (Diploma in Children's Services).
  • Current Working with Children Suitability Notice (or Exemption).
  • Approved First Aid qualifications (HTLADI004).
     

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate high level interpersonal, verbal and written  communication skills, including a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Deliver a responsive early childhood program reflecting the service philosophy and Early Years Learning Framework; and children's voices in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate experience in creating responsive and inspiring learning environments for children.
  • Demonstrate proactive leadership qualities.
  • Closely liaise with the service's educational leader & Leadership team.
  • Have skills to prioritise and manage work projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Have thorough knowledge of the National Quality Framework and Early Years Learning Framework.
  • Demonstrated computer competence including Microsoft Office, Internet and programs specific to the centre.
  • A well developed understanding of theories of early childhood development and current research and theories impacting on the profession.
  • An enthusiastic and positive attitude towards the care and education of young children, staff and families.
  • Willingness to promote social justice and equity by demonstrating an attitude of acceptance and respect for all children and their families.
  • Ability and willingness to work within the Philosophy, Policies and Procedures of Wesley Mission Queensland.
