Group Leader
Wesley Mission Queensland's The Gap Kindergarten & Child Care Centre is a community based long day care centre providing care for up to 48 children aged from six months to five years, and proudly offers a responsive learning environment, guided by the Early Years Learning Framework. Our service provides a community environment that recognises and respects the individuality, ability and potential of each child. We offer children innovative educational programs in a flexible, play-based natural environment where they can be themselves and learn about the world around them. Our service also provides a Kindergarten Program with a qualified Early Childhood Teacher.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dedicated Group Leader to join our team on a part time basis (30 hours a fortnight). The position will be based in our 0-2 year room. As the successful applicant you will have a vision for children as capable and competent learners along with proven experience in Early Childhood services and an understanding of contemporary Early Childhood practices. The Lead Educator position will work under the guidance of the Centre Director & Educational Leader to implement an enriched learning environment for children to help build their foundations for early years.
In this role you will:
• Communicate effectively and positively with all stakeholders • Create responsive and inspiring learning environments for children • Be willing to learn and progress as an early childhood professional • Assist to deliver a responsive early childhood program reflecting the service philosophy, EYLF and the voices of children • Closely liaise with the service's Leadership team • Have skills to prioritise and manage work projects efficiently and effectively • Have thorough knowledge of the National Quality Framework
The successful applicant will hold a:
• Recognised Diploma in Children's Services or be currently studying towards a relevant diploma level qualification • Current Working with Children Suitability Notice (blue card) or exemption • Approved first aid qualification, including asthma and anaphylaxis (or ability to obtain) • Experience in working with the 0-2 year age group.
