Activities Officer

Dovetree are looking for an Activities Officer 37.5 hours a fortnight to provide social and recreational programs to clients/ residents.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Requirements:
Desirable:
1.Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle or Certificate III in Aged Care
Essential:
1. At least 2 years' experience in planning and implementing social and recreational programs for the aged.
2. High level interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) with demonstrated experience building strong relationships with Clients and understanding their individual needs and abilities.
3. Demonstrated compassion and respect for residents, colleagues, and visitors.
4. Demonstrated positive and enthusiastic attitude, and willingness to be flexible when required.
5. Willingness to contribute in a positive manner within a team environment.
6. Proven ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
7. Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations and continuous quality improvement practices.
8. Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ policy.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the WMQ Model of Care, the Wesley Charter and Wesley Mission Queensland's Vision, Mission and Values.
2. Identify and assist clients/residents to participate in activity programs.
3. Prepare and coordinate social and recreational activities for clients/residents.
4. Liaise with the Leisure & Lifestyle Coordinator, appropriate staff members, service providers and relatives in the development of appropriate activities and identify and respond to individual needs of residents.
5. Document/report ongoing progress of clients/residents and report any change in care needs to relevant health professionals.
6. Attend to the personal care needs of clients/residents as required and organise and supervise clients/residents on outings as required.
7. Attend and participate in regular meetings with other Activities Officers & Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinators to facilitate sharing of resources.
8. Attend, participate and / or facilitate residents meetings as required.
