Care Companion

Care Companions will endeavour to meet the social, emotional and physical needs of the residents on a day to day basis. This will involve developing meaningful relationships with residents and understanding and meeting their needs in relation to the seven domains of well-being – identity, growth, autonomy, security, connectedness, meaning and joy. This will be achieved by developing reciprocal and caring relationships
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the WMQ Model of Care, the Wesley Charter and Wesley Mission Queensland's Vision, Mission and Values.
- Work as part of a team to provide high quality personal care, catering, cleaning and laundry delivery and daily living support in a home like environment for residents.
- Provision of medication assistance as trained and directed.
- Assist residents to attain and maintain their optimum degree of independence, dignity, privacy and quality of life.
- Assist residents with the pursuit of personal interests and activities to enhance quality of life such as meal enjoyment and involvement, gardening and outdoor enjoyment.
- Involvement in care planning, family meetings and GP visits as required.
- Contribute to the assessment process of clients/residents including documentation.
- Undertake the laundering and caring of resident's clothes, distribution of personal hygiene products and clothes labelling service.
- Be an active participant in continuous quality improvement environment.
- Participate in Workplace Health and Safety, infection control and training as required.
- Undertake any other duties as directed by the JWG Manager or Clinical Advisor.
