Position Summary

Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator

This position will provide relevant, evidence based activities and events for children and families receiving care through Hummingbird House. Through a range of in-house facilitation, external visits, and engagement of community stakeholders, the Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator will bring a sense of fun to Hummingbird House by curating both a rolling cycle of regular seasonal events, initiate one-off special events at the house, and support other areas of the clinical and non-clinical teams in offering family friendly activities. 

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the Principles, Values and Mission of the organisation.
  2. To assist guests-in-care to attain and maintain their optimum degree of independence and quality of life through a series of targeted experiences and activities.
  3. Within the scope of qualifications and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team, assess, plan, implement and regularly evaluate a range of innovative lifestyle and activity programs to meet the specific needs of the guest and their family, in order to facilitate participation and positive outcomes.
  4. Prepare and lead individual and group social and recreational activities encompassing the cultural, emotional and spiritual needs of the guests-in-care and where appropriate implement programs with a community involvement focus.
  5. Assist in the education, co-ordination and supervision of volunteers as required.
  6. Identify and respond to individual lifestyle activity needs of guests.
  7. Liaise with appropriate staff members, service providers and relatives regarding guest care and progress as required.
  8. As required professionally document and report ongoing progress of guests and programs.
  9. Ensure the activities and programs are in accordance with relevant WMQ policy and procedure.
  10. Attend and participate in regular meetings with guests and other Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinators across WMQ to enhance program delivery.
  11. In consultation with the local Manager order and maintain necessary equipment in line with operational and budgetary constraints.

Essential Requirements Essential: Must have a current Drivers licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
Essential: Tertiary qualifications in Leisure and Health/Recreation Activities, or equivalent as determined by Hummingbird House team.
Essential: Demonstrated passion and commitment to connecting the community to the mission and vision of Hummingbird House.
Essential: Demonstrated experience working with children, young people and families living with disability and/or palliative care.
Essential: Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementation, facilitation and ongoing review of innovative and flexible recreational programs, events and activities.
Essential: Demonstrated experience in organising events, including risk assessments, event management, coupled with a high degree of flexibility responding to challenges and consumer engagement regarding events and plans.
