Youth Connect Worker

The Youth Connect Worker will assist in the delivery of services and activities to the Logan Youth Foyer Support Service community. This will include the development and facilitation of structured activity programs for young people both on site and externally as well as linking in with the wider community. The role requires flexible working hours.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

1. Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the WMQ Model of Care, the Wesley Charter and Wesley Mission Queensland's Vision, Mission and Values.
2. Assist in the development and facilitation of structured and unstructured activities, workshops and outings, that meet the needs of the target group.
3. Support and assist the LYFSS community to access onsite facilities, supervise access as required and manage the environment.
4. Provide administrative and other support to other team members, to assist with efficient program delivery as required, including clear communication regarding young people's support needs.
5. Provide direct practical support to young people in coordination with the other LYFSS team members as required or directed.
6. Engage and sustain effective and professional relationships with the young people accessing the programs.
7. Cooperate, liaise and negotiate with key stakeholders and youth service providers in relation to access and use of the Hub and LYFSS facilities.
8. Adhere to all Workplace Health and Safety regulations / legislation and ensure that it is a safe space.
9. Receive supervision and direction from the Program Coordinator and Team Leader as required.

Essential:
1. Tertiary qualifications in Human Services or related field (or working towards) and /or extensive experience working in the Community Sector.
2. Ability to acquire knowledge of and work within an Advantage Thinking framework.
3. Demonstrated experience in program service delivery to young people.
4. Ability to function both as part of a team and autonomously with minimal supervision.
5. Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including report writing, negotiation, advocacy and the ability to effectively engage with young people, community stakeholders and other service providers.
6. Demonstrated understanding of the current issues for communities within the Logan LGA
7. Demonstrated understanding of Community Development principles and frameworks.
8. The ability to undertake administrative tasks including a moderate level of computer literacy.
9. Current Queensland Driver License (Open) and willingness to drive in the course of work
10. Working with Children Suitability Card (Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian) or eligibility to obtain such card.
11. Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ policy.
