Hummingbird House is Queensland's only children's hospice and provides short break stays, family support services, creative therapies, and care at the end of life for children with life limiting conditions and their families.

Working closely with the Hummingbird House team, this position is responsible for the delivery of meals to Hummingbird House guests and families and catering for special events. This will include the daily preparation of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, and catering for special events within and external to Hummingbird House.

Key Responsibilities Include:

1.     Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the Principles, Values and Mission of the organisation.

2.     Creating a home away from home environment for families, through the provision of 'home-cooked' meal experiences

3.     Food preparation for Hummingbird House guests and special events. On average, a maximum of 45 guests will be staying with Hummingbird House at any one time.

4.     Provide high quality, creative, and  nutritionally balanced breakfasts, lunches, and dinners, adaptable to special diets including allergies and intolerances 

5.     Liaise with health care professionals in regard to guest and family dietary needs

6.     Have a personable and adaptable demeanour, and understanding towards the special needs of Hummingbird House guests

7.     Remain pragmatic and focused in an ever changing and challenging environment.

8.     Foster close and positive working relationships with staff and key stakeholders

9.     Maintain high levels of cleanliness in the kitchen and dining room areas
