Hummingbird House, Queensland's only children's hospice, operates as a medically supported 'home away from home' for children affected by a life limiting condition, and their families. The stand-alone purpose built facility offers 8 guest in care suites, 5 family accommodation units and a unique 'care at the end of life' suite.

 

We are seeking a Paediatric Physiotherapist to develop the aquatic physiotherapy program at Hummingbird House.

 

You will have the exciting task of leading our expansion into developing and delivering an aquatic physiotherapy offering, including the development of the NDIS program. Your initial case load will derive from children and families who currently access services at Hummingbird House. This will then expand to families who have aquatic physiotherapy provisions within their NDIS packages.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the Principles, Values and Mission of the organisation.
  2. Contribute to the planning, implementation, evaluation & reporting of the physiotherapy service, with a focus on aquatic physiotherapy.
  3. Be responsible for providing the highest quality of physiotherapy care to all guests within Hummingbird House, with a focus on aquatic physiotherapy.
  4. Actively participate in continuing education, including maintenance of knowledge of current research outcomes and literature reviews relating to paediatric physiotherapy, and keep up to date with advances in aquatic physiotherapy techniques, in order to enhance job performance.
  5. Apply significant clinical skills in aquatic physiotherapy to ensure the application of the highest quality standards in both the assessment and treatment of HH guest, as well as in decision-making with regard to all aspects of the Aquatic Physiotherapy service.
  6. Actively participate in the introduction of the NDIS hydrotherapy service within Hummingbird House.

Essential Requirements Essential: 1. Demonstrated passion and commitment to connecting the community to the mission and vision of Hummingbird House.
Essential: 2. Degree in Physiotherapy and National Physiotherapy Registration with AHPRA.
Essential: 3. Demonstrated experience in the development of clinical physiotherapy policies and procedures.
Essential: 4. Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills, & ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Essential: 5. Demonstrated effective PC skills including MS Office and other related applications packages (including reporting).
Essential: 6. Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
Essential: 7. Relevant key personnel and probity checks required by legislation and WMQ policy.
Essential: 8. Willingness to work within the philosophy and policies of Hummingbird House, Wesley Mission Queensland and The Uniting Church in Australia.
