The primary role of a Disability Support Worker is to provide assistance to individuals with physical, developmental or cognitive disabilities. The role includes but is not limited to personal care (showering/dressing), continence support, assistance with meals, assistance with medications, domestic duties (laundry/housework/ironing/gardening), shopping, transport, in home respite, centre based respite care and overnight respite (including sleepovers).
 
In addition, a Disability Support Worker will assist in implementing client-specific programs to help these individuals accessing support to build strong social skills and encourage independence whenever possible.
