Youth Vocational Specialist - headspace Hervey Bay

The Youth Vocational Specialist in collaboration with the Senior Youth Vocational Specialist is responsible for the implementation and ongoing operation of the Individual Placement Support (IPS) Trial. The Youth Vocational Specialist role requires working with young people who have a range of mental health conditions to support them into suitable employment or education opportunities. The role is not a clinical therapy based role and clients seen under the IPS program will be supported by a core mental health clinician.
Key Responsibilities Include:

Align one's workplace behaviour in accordance with the WMQ Model of Care, the Wesley Charter and Wesley Mission Queensland's Vision, Mission and Values.

Take referrals from headspace staff and service partners in relation to young people experiencing mental health conditions who require supported transition into employment and further education.

Manage a caseload of young people through liaison with clinical teams, families, friends and employers, in an ongoing and professional manner to achieve positive outcomes.

Support young people to identify, find and keep competitive employment consistent with their interests, capabilities and vocational goals.

Liaise and promote cooperation and seamless integration with internal services and appropriate external services.

Develop employment transition plans for individuals (that are inclusive of and work alongside other employment service providers) that address barriers to accessing and maintaining employment consistent with the individual's interests, skills, experience and capabilities.

Develop an effective referral and timely feedback system between service providers.

Manage data collection to ensure record keeping is in line with program and organisational standards.

Participate in the development, implementation and review of quality improvement initiatives and program policies and procedures.

Promote evidence based practice and processes and the use of process and outcome measurement.

Ensure services meet the IPS Fidelity model and accurate information is provided during the evaluation of the services.

Effectively market the IPS Trial to internal and external stakeholders and develop referral pathways across the youth sector.

Develop and maintain strong networks, productive relationships and communication pathways with service providers, including mental health and vocational service providers and employers.

Actively communicate and share knowledge with other headspace team members to ensure quality services are provided at all times.
