Pastoral and Spiritual Care Worker

To provide both pastoral care and opportunity for worship and spiritual discovery that is responsive to individual needs including the aged care community needs of residents, families, staff and volunteers.
Qualifications and Experience that will facilitate success in the Role:
1. Demonstrated communication and pastoral counselling skills to enable effective interaction and communication with residents and their families, carers, staff and volunteers. This will be evidenced by a strong focus on counselling in a previous position of ministry and/or additional qualifications in counselling. Given the nature of the position there is a significant need for grief and loss counselling experience. 2. Sensitivity to the wide variety of needs of residents and their families, carers, staff and volunteers. This is particularly important because of the diversity of the people who make up the aged care community in Wesley Mission Queensland facilities. 3. Ability and commitment to work as part of a multi disciplinary team. 4. Respect for the different values, beliefs and confidences of residents and their families, carers, staff and volunteers. 5. Ability to exercise both sensitivity and conviction when sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ with others. 6. Awareness of and ability to meet the requirements of Accreditation as they relate to the area of responsibility. 7. Ability and willingness to work within the Philosophies, Policies and Procedures of Wesley Mission Queensland and the Uniting Church in Australia.
